Property description: white or brownish-yellow powder. Insoluble in ethanol, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, ammonia and potassium iodide, sodium thiosulfate, sodium cyanide aqueous solution. It breaks down easily under the action of light.
Cuprious iodide is almost insoluble in water (0.00042 g/L, 25°C) and insoluble in acids, but can continue to coordinate with iodide to form a linear [CuI2] ion, thus soluble in potassium iodide or sodium iodide solutions. The resulting solution is diluted and precipitated by cuprous iodide, so it can be used to purify cuprous iodide samples.
Properties: white crystal or grayish white powder, easy to decompose into brown yellow at the sight of light. Insoluble in water and ethanol. Soluble in 75% sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, but also soluble in ammonia, potassium iodide. Reaction with sodium hydroxide to form cuprous oxide.
